SPECIAL MEETING

April 14, 2026

ACKLEY CITY COUNCIL met in special session April 14, 2026 in the Ackley Council Chambers with Mayor Michael Abbas presiding.  The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm.  Council members present: Steven Ackerman, Maliah Roelfs, Mike Wessels. Absent: Dan Scallon. Quorum present.

Wessels moved, Roelfs seconded, to approve the April 14, 2026 Agenda, as listed.  Ayes-3.  Absent-1. Motion carried.

Roelfs moved, Ackerman seconded to open the public hearing for proposed budget for fiscal year ending June 30, 2027 at 6:01 pm. Ayes-3. Absent-1. Motion carried.

No comments or concerns were made or received.

Roelfs moved, Wessels seconded to close the public hearing for proposed budget for fiscal year ending June 30, 2027 at 6:02 pm. Ayes-3. Absent-1. Motion carried.

Roelfs moved, Ackerman seconded to pass Resolution 26-19 Adopting FY27 budget. Roll call vote: Ayes-Roelfs, Wessels, Ackerman. Absent-Scallon. Motion carried.

Ackerman moved, Wessels seconded to pass Resolution 26-20 Setting FY27 wages for City of Ackley employees. Roll call vote: Ayes-Wessels, Ackerman, Roelfs. Absent-Scallon. Motion carried.

Roelfs moved, Wessels seconded to pass Resolution 26-21 Authorizing FY27 budgeted transfers. Roll call vote: Ayes-Ackerman, Roelfs, Wessels. Absent-Scallon. Motion carried.

Roelfs moved, Ackerman seconded to pass Resolution 26-22 Authorizing Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and City Clerk to Execute Certain Financial Institution Documents. Roll call vote: Ayes-Ackerman, Roelfs, Wessels. Absent-Scallon. Motion carried.

Dennis reported as of meeting time; the city has not gotten the quote from Pleva Mechanical. Tabled Pleva Mechanical for the Splash Pad repair until the May meeting.

Wessels moved, Roelfs seconded to fill the council vacancy by appointment at the May 13, 2026 meeting.  Ayes-3. Absent-1. Motion carried.

Roelfs moved, Wessels seconded, to adjourn at 6:09 pm.  Ayes-3.  Absent-1. Motion carried.
