SPECIAL MEETING | February 19, 2020

ACKLEY CITY COUNCIL met in special session February 19, 2020 in the Ackley City Hall Council Chambers with Mayor Pat Daggs presiding. The meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m.

Council members present: Pat Hurt, Joe Wessels, Mike Abbas, Judy Crawford. Absent: Chuy Flores. Quorum present.

Wessels moved, Hurt seconded, to approve the February 19, 2020 Agenda as listed. Ayes-4. Motion carried.

Council member Chuy Flores arrived at 5:01 p.m.

Abbas moved, Wessels seconded, to open the public hearing at 5:02 p.m. on the proposed property tax levy for fiscal year ending June 30, 2021. Ayes-All. Motion carried. No oral or written comments or objections were received. Crawford moved, Wessels seconded, to close the public hearing at 5:02 p.m. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

Hurt moved, Flores seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 20-11 Approving the FY21 Maximum Property Tax Dollars. Roll call vote: Ayes- Hurt, Abbas, Crawford, Flores; Nays-Wessels. Motion carried.

Hurt moved, Crawford seconded, to approve the FY21 Proposed Budget. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

Abbas moved, Wessels seconded, to set a public hearing for FY21 Proposed Budget for March 11 th , 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

Given all lien waivers have been received from Municipal Pipe Tool Co., Wessels moved, Abbas seconded, to release payment to Municipal Pipe Tool Co. for pay estimate no. 13. Hurt moved, Crawford seconded, to award the base bids for the 2020 Water Main Extension, City Hall Sidewalk Replacement, City Hall Storm Sewer Repair, and Cougars Den Steps Replacement along with the alternate bids for the two additional steps at City Hall and full sidewalk in front of City Hall to MP Backhoe in the amount of $352,838.10. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

With no further discussion, Hurt moved, Flores seconded, to adjourn at 5:20 p.m. Ayes-All. Motion carried.
