SPECIAL MEETING

August 22, 2022

ACKLEY CITY COUNCIL met in special session August 22, 2022 in the Ackley Council Chambers with Mayor Michael Nuss presiding. The meeting was called to order at 4:07 pm. Council members present: Mike Abbas, Judy Crawford, and Chuy Flores. Flores in attendance by electronic device due to prior obligations. Absent: Dan Scallon and Joe Wessels. Quorum present.

Abbas moved, Crawford seconded to approve the August 22, 2022 Agenda as listed. Ayes-all. Motion carried.

Crawford moved, Flores seconded to open the public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of costs for 605 Main St Facade Grant at 4:09 pm. Ayes-all. Motion carried.

No written or oral comments or objections noted.

Crawford moved, Flores seconded to close the public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of costs for 605 Main St Facade Grant at 4:09 pm.

Clerk Dennis reported no bids were received. Julie Winter from Region 6 Resources is requesting council to re-open the bidding with a close date of September 9, 2022 at 12:00 pm with bid awarding to be September 14, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the regular council meeting.

Crawford moved, Flores seconded to re-open bidding on the 605 Main St façade project until September 9, 2022 at 12:00 pm and to award bids at the September 14, 2022 council meeting at 7:00 pm. Ayes-all. Motion carried.

CD renewal was tabled until Dennis could check into People’s Savings Bank rates for the cemetery perpetual care CD that is maturing on September 2, 2022.

Mayor Nuss reported the 5th Ave retention pond needs to be dredged and council needs to think about that when budgeting for next fiscal year. The storm sewers were not able to keep up during last week’s rain. Owner of 301 Mitchell St is to meet with Nuss on Tuesday the 23rd.

Crawford moved, Abbas seconded to adjourn at 4:12 pm. Ayes-all. Motion carried.
