SPECIAL MEETING
February 27, 2024
ACKLEY CITY COUNCIL met in special session February 27, 2024 in the Ackley Council Chambers with Mayor Michael Nuss presiding. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm. Council members present: Chuy Flores, Maliah Roelf, Mike Abbas, Judy Crawford. Flores and Crawford in attendance via electronic device due to prior obligations. Absent: Dan Scallon. Quorum present.
Abbas moved, Flores seconded, to approve the February 27, 2024 Agenda, as listed. Ayes-4. Absent-1. Motion carried.
Abbas moved, Roelfs seconded to set public hearing for proposed property tax levy for fiscal year ending June 30, 2025 to March 26, 2024 at 6 pm in the Ackley Council Chambers. Ayes-4. Absent-1. Motion carried.
Nuss updated Council concerning the meeting with the City of Eldora regarding the Ambulance merger. Eldora is hesitant on moving forward due to current finances, however, Eldora was unable to provide all finances at the meeting. Nuss has spoken to Shawn Davis, Eldora/Ackley EMS Director, and Nuss along with Davis are working on call numbers and finances to take back to the City of Eldora for further discussion. Crawford inquired as to if there were any finances handed out at the meeting. Nuss addressed Crawford’s concern. Nuss is hoping to have more information for the March council meeting.
Abbas moved, Flores seconded, to adjourn at 4:05 pm. Ayes-4. Absent-1. Motion carried.
