SPECIAL MEETING
March 26, 2024
ACKLEY CITY COUNCIL met in special session March 26, 2024 in the Ackley Council Chambers with Mayor Pro Tem Judy Crawford presiding. The meeting was called to order at 6:15 pm. Council members present: Mike Abbas, Judy Crawford, Dan Scallon. Scallon in attendance via electronic device due to prior obligations. Absent: Chuy Flores and Maliah Roelfs. Quorum present.
Abbas moved, Scallon seconded, to approve the March 26, 2024 Agenda, as listed. Ayes-3. Absent-2. Motion carried.
Abbas moved, Scallon seconded to approve the FY25 proposed budget. Ayes-3. Absent-2. Motion carried.
Abbas moved, Crawford seconded to set public hearing for the proposed budget for fiscal year ending June 30, 2025 to April 17, 2024 at 6 pm in the Ackley Council Chambers. Ayes-3. Absent-2. Motion carried.
Council previously approved for late fees and shut off procedure fees to be waived for any 2 inch meter billing issue until issue was resolved. Issue has been resolved. There is an account that is paying less than the current monthly billed amount. Clerk Dennis spoke to Seth Schroeder, City Attorney, who informed Dennis that the two attorneys have not had a chance to have a meeting between the City and property owner. Schroeder suggested to continue to waive fees until the following month to allow time to get a meeting set up. Scallon moved, Abbas seconded to approve waiving late/shut off fees for delinquent account #484990003. Ayes-3. Absent-2. Motion carried.
Discussion regarding Sanitary Sewer Phase II Project - Change Order 10. Abbas met with James Sweeney, CGA Consultants, at the site. Abbas spoke to Matt White, PeopleService Water Superintendent. Boomerang is not willing to decrease the price on change order 10. Heath Draeger, PeopleService Regional Manager, had requested an email be shared with Council regarding keeping the communication lines open with the City and Council regarding any issues big or small at the site. Email was read to Council. Council stands on previous denial of Change Order 10. No further action was taken.
Abbas moved, Scallon seconded, to adjourn at 6:24 pm. Ayes-3. Absent-2. Motion carried.
